A Saint for Our Times
St. John Paul II visited the Orchard Lake Schools as a cardinal. Karol Józef Wojtyła's exemplary life and devotion to God remains an inspiration to millions, and is an guiding principle for the mission of this liturgical center as both a Catholic and Polish institution.
The Archdiocesan Shrine, Relic and Altar
On June 22, 2016, Archbishop Alan Vigneron consecrated the Archdiocesan Shrine to St. John Paul II on the Orchard Lake Schools campus. This beautiful structure with its sweeping ceiling, soft wooden tones, and radiantly colored stained glass was originally constructed in 1962 and dedicated to Our Lady of Orchard Lake. Since it's dedication to St. John Paul II, the addition of a marble and gold reliquary as well as a devotional side altar bring inspiration and prayerfulness to the Shrine, in which is held weekly Masses for the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep students, daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and weekend liturgies for the OLS community. This spiritual centerpiece of our campus is represented in our logo, and serves as the home for all of the Masses and religious events provided by the St. John Paul II Liturgical Center.
